Chartering of New Y Service Club of Tela – Second Club in Honduras

In conjunction with and in support of the workshop, a Y Service Club of Tela  was chartered with an initial 14 members (with another seven people who expressed their desire to become members or volunteers in the near future). The Chartering ceremony began with prayer and the singing of the Honduran national anthem. Attending the ceremony by Zoom were International Secretary General Jose Varghese, Latin American Regional Director Mary Guzman, North American historian Debbie Redmond, other officials such as Rossana Croci and Sylvia Reyes from Uruguay (Latin-American region), and area president Laura Golcalves. Members and Club officers took their appropriate oaths and were pinned by North Jersey representatives. Traditional songs were performed by club members. The ceremony closed with words from the newly appointed club president Maria de Jesus Vasquez (Suzy), and gifts were exchanged. One of this club’s first commissions is to lead the many new Character Education teachers in developing their cities’ educational strategies.

International Brotherhood

Y Service Club New Jersey and Tegucigalpa Y Service Club established International Brotherhood (IBC) status after meetings between the officials and members of both clubs. On December 16, 2021, Ms.  Keiko Tonegawa (ISD-IBC) signed the Brother Club Certificate with the Statement “Congratulations on the formation of an IBC partnership with Tegucigalpa Y Service Club in Honduras. Now the IBC relationship is officially acknowledged”. Since then, we added two more Clubs: Y Service Club Montevideo, Uruguay and Accra Y’s Men Club, Ghana to list of Brother Clubs.
